'The Writer' written by Ella Hickson is playing at Théâtre des Capucins from March 18th to April 1st.
Claire Thill, a founding member of several theatre collectives, visited Melissa on The Home Stretch to speak about her latest theatrical production. Her latest production is Ella Hickson's 'The Writer' which features a cast of four local actors.
The play follows a writer who sets out to write her own play, blurring lines and situations and encompassing a 'play within a play.' The piece plays heavily on theatrical conventions, overlapping the lines of what is real and what is not.
Melissa and Claire discussed the myriad of themes within the play, including elements of power dynamics and the patriarchy.
Claire also spoke about the opening night of the production and the reactions they received from the audience.
