A lively ceilidh night at St George's International School is set to bring traditional Scottish dancing, music, and fundraising to the Grand Duchy.
A lively evening of traditional Scottish dancing is set to take place at St George's International School on Saturday, 8 February, in support of the Anthony Nolan charity. Organised by Catherine Crawley-Oakes, the event will feature live music by The Hoggies, guiding attendees through a night of energetic ceilidh (pronounced 'kay-lee') dancing.
With no prior experience necessary, guests can expect a mix of group and partner dances, all led by the band to ensure everyone can join in the fun.
Ceilidhs are "three hours of pure laughter", said Crawley-Oakes while presenting the event on The Sam Steen Show on Today Radio. "Mistakes are 100% embraced" and you can be "as energetic as you want", she further noted.
Dancing for a cause
Beyond the festivities, the event has a meaningful mission. All proceeds will go to the Anthony Nolan charity, which helps match stem cell donors with those suffering from blood cancer and disorders. The cause is personal for Crawley-Oakes, who is also running the London Marathon in April to raise funds in honour of her father, who was diagnosed with blood cancer six years ago.
"Anthony Nolan is an incredible charity that connects patients in need with life-saving donors while also funding crucial research," she said.
