On a recent segment of The Sam Steen Show, listeners were treated to an exciting segment featuring The Sound of Music cast from Pirate Productions. The studio was packed with guests, including Victor, the director of the production, and lead cast members Simon and Evelyn, who shared insights into the process and joy of bringing this beloved musical to life.
Victor discussed the challenges and rewards of directing such an iconic show, noting the immense passion the cast and crew bring to every rehearsal. With a cast of 50 and a live orchestra of 32 musicians, the production is one of Pirate’s largest and most ambitious yet. Simon, who plays Max Detweiler, expressed his excitement about embodying this complex character in the original stage version, which reveals more depth than the familiar film adaptation.
