Irina spoke candidly with DB3 about her own struggles with panic attacks and depression, arguing that music can be a form of therapy for people suffering with mental health issues:
“Music is therapy. It doesn’t replace actual therapy, but it can give us permission to feel, to dance, to cry, to laugh, and so on. Music is a place where we can all meet and be together. Music can be a tool with which we can communicate all the things we think we can’t express. Music is love. Music is pain and hurt. Music is frustration. Music is friendship. Music is hardship. Music is joy. Music is life. And you are not alone and it will get better. And if you feel like you need help, get some.”
She praised organisations such as Artists for Mental Health and Prévention Dépression Luxembourg.
Irina and David also discussed her new-found love for Metallica, her interest in country music and, of course, Guinness.
Finally, she paid tribute to Irish singer O’Connor, who passed away this year, with a ukulele cover of Nothing Compares 2 U.
