Police launched a witness appeal after a crash on the A3 left six people were injured and a car on fire in the early hours of Saturday.

A serious accident occurred shortly before 1am on Saturday on the A3 motorway, between the Berchem service station exit and the Livange on-ramp, in the direction of France. According to initial information, one car was travelling at high speed towards France when it struck the crash barrier, then collided with another vehicle. The car subsequently caught fire and was completely destroyed by the flames.

The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) reported that six people were injured in total: four were taken to hospital for observation, and two suffered serious injuries. Police specified on Saturday morning that one of the seriously injured individuals sustained severe burns.

The A3 in the direction of France remains closed between the Gasperich interchange and the Berchem service station while clean-up and repair works continue, as the accident caused major damage to the road surface. The public prosecutor has tasked the judicial police with investigating the incident.
