Luxembourg's men's XV extended squad has been announced for their upcoming fixture against Estonia in the Rugby Europe Conference.
On Wednesday, James Kent named his extended 26-man squad for the upcoming fixture against Estonia – a must-win game in the Rugby Europe Conference. Four potential new caps have been rewarded for their club performances: Louis Darras (Grasshoppers Club Zurich), Gauthier Fontanive (RC Walferdange), Melvil Ruppert (RC Luxembourg), and Casmier Yandall (RC Luxembourg).
Head coach Kent said: “We have selected a well-rounded squad that blends experience with returning players and the possibility of several new caps. We are excited to have the opportunity to assess some players who have not yet featured at representative level, and we are confident they will make a valuable contribution as we prepare to face an Estonian side that will look to apply significant pressure.”
Some selection issues arose due to the congested fixture schedule, which has led to injuries – notably to co-captain Joss Gaspalou – at this point in the season, as well as Rugby Club Luxembourg (RCL) playing on the same day. The game coincides with a critical match against München RFC, who sit only three points above RCL, who want to remain playing in the top division in Germany. The likes of Yared Kettema and James Wheeler are notable absantees.
Luxembourg dismantled Norway in their opening fixture, away from home 6-60 and will be looking to push on from their strong second half perfomance in Stavanger. Meanwhile, Estonia will be looking to make amend from their first game where they lost 62-0 to Finland.
