STATEC now expects inflation of 1.8% this year, down from an earlier 2.5%, citing an easing of tensions in the Middle East and the effect of the government's resilience package.

Luxembourg's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (STATEC) has released new inflation forecasts and revised the figures downwards, and by a considerable margin.

STATEC is now expecting inflation of 1.8% this year, rather than the 2.5% previously forecast. For next year, a rise in prices of 2.1% is predicted. The reason being the de-escalation of the war in the Iran. On top of that comes the effect of the resilience package, which is helping to slow inflation down.

Under the central scenario, the next index tranche would now fall in the third quarter of 2027. STATEC does note, however, that geopolitical uncertainties remain very high.
