Figure of the day

€300 million is the total cost of the reform set to ensure every child has a place in care by 2030.

  • The reform includes several key measures: Standardisation of pricing rules across all day care centres; Adjustment of the financial aid scale to better target relief for families.
  • Since 1 January, the basic hourly rate has increased from €6 to €7 per child. The additional charges often levied by private facilities will now be prohibited by law, with the State covering these costs. Parental assistants will also benefit from increased support to ensure equity between the various types of childcare services.
