  • The latest figures from Luxembourg show that 229 new cases of coronavirus were discovered over the last 24 hours, along with one new death.

  • The government brought forward a meeting on the current Covid law, possibly announcing new measures on Wednesday - a press briefing is scheduled for 9.45am on Wednesday morning.

  • Meanwhile, the Covid-19 Task Force assumes Luxembourg could be seeing 1,000 daily Omicron cases by February.

  • From 21 December 2021, fully vaccinated non-EU citizens from Brazil, Canada, South Korea, India or Japan will be authorised to enter Luxembourg for non-essential travel.

    • The Chinese city of Xi’an began testing millions of residents for the coronavirus on Tuesday after the detection of more than 40 new cases raised concerns of wider transmission ahead of a busy travel season.
    • The United States will give $580 million in additional aid to international organizations to fight Covid-19 in the face of surging Omicron cases, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Tuesday.
    • In the week of 11-17 December, Belgium recorded an average of 8.635 new infections per day. This represents a 35% drop compared to the previous week.
