Applications for part-time work are still being accepted until 31 December, but the economic committee has already approved 674 companies for January.

Part-time working has just been extended until February 2022, including for the sectors whose activities remain directly impacted by the health measures.
The Ministry of State had stressed that the compensation for partial unemployment will remain fixed at 80% of the normal gross hourly wage.

The Ministry of the Economy informs that the Economic Committee has just given a favourable ruling on 674 requests for partial unemployment for the month of January 2022. As a result, 11,500 employees will benefit from short-time working in Luxembourg as of next month.

Of the 674 requests made by companies, 608 state Covid-19 as their reason, 54 are from the manufacturing sector, 11 relate to companies that suffered damage as a result of the floods of 14 and 15 July 2021 and are considered to fall within the scope of force majeure, and one request falls within the scope of the economic dependency link, the ministry details.

Following the tripartite meeting of 13 December 2021, the Economic Committee accepts any extension of the plans for maintaining employment in vulnerable sectors on the basis of a simple amendment until the end of February 2022.

The number of working hours lost may not exceed 25% of the total normal monthly working hours of the company. The Economic Committee reserves the right to reject any new plan whose package of measures has a greater impact on the Employment Fund.

Companies and federations can still submit a request for an extension until the end of 2021 to the secretariat of the Economic Committee (e-mail: emploi@eco.etat.lu).

The Economic Committee also gave the green light to two applications for tax exemption for voluntary redundancy payments for 34 employees.
