Luxembourg police reported multiple traffic incidents involving drugs and alcohol between Friday and Saturday.
The first incident occurred in Sanem at around 3pm on Friday. A motorcyclist fell in a roundabout and was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The investigation determined the motorcycle’s insurance had expired months earlier, leading to the vehicle’s seizure as ordered by the public prosecutor.
Later that same day at around 9pm, officers in Ettelbruck stopped a vehicle with several apparent violations, discovering it was not properly registered and lacked valid insurance. A subsequent search revealed a small quantity of drugs and related paraphernalia. A police report was filed, and the vehicle was impounded on orders from the public prosecutor’s office.
Police also detailed several alcohol-related incidents beginning Friday night. Shortly before midnight, an accident was reported on the A4 motorway near the A13 junction. One driver was found to have been drinking, resulting in the confiscation of their licence.
On the same stretch at around 1.40am, a hit-and-run was reported on the A4 heading toward the A13. Police located the abandoned vehicle in Schifflange and later found its two occupants. The driver, tested for alcohol, had their licence revoked, and a complaint was filed.
Two further incidents followed on Saturday morning. At approximately 5.10am in Esch-sur-Alzette, a patrol observed a car violating the right of way at the junction of Rue de la Libération and Boulevard John F. Kennedy. The driver tested positive for alcohol, surrendered their licence, and was fined.
Later, at around 6.30am in Mamer, a driver was stopped for speeding on Route d’Arlon. A positive breathalyser test led to an immediate driving ban.
