Xavier Bettel reacted against the accusations in an interview with the weekly newspaper "d’Land." He argued that he tried to support the minister by giving advice but also stressed that, in his opinion, politicians should not get involved in an ongoing court case. He added that he deemed it unnecessary to "express his confidence" in Carole Dieschbourg because this expression was, according to the Prime Minister, only used when a minister needs to be saved - and this was not the case for Carole Dieschbourg, Bettel concluded.

Regarding the Corinne Cahen email controversy, Bettel said that the case was a mere trifle, adding that he did not wish to comment further as the Ethics Committee has been involved.

Bettel, who is also Minister for Culture, also addressed the rumours that the ministry of state had already considered a potential fusion between RTL and Radio 100,7. In his own words: "then you know more than I do." At the same time, he also stated that he was unable to rule out a fusion. He explained that nobody had talked to him about a potential fusion, concluding that he was therefore not in a position to comment on a possible decision.
