A fatal rail accident near Lintgen on Tuesday midday has claimed the life of a man and led to cancellations and replacement bus services on two CFL lines.

A man has died after being struck by a train near Lintgen railway station.

The fatal incident occurred at around midday on Tuesday on the railway line between Mersch and Luxembourg City, as the police confirmed to RTL. The man, who was hit by a train near the Lintgen stop, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Authorities were unable to specify how long the line would remain closed.

RTL was first unable to reach the Luxembourg National Railway Company (CFL) for comment by phone. However, the CFL website has already announced a series of cancellations and the deployment of substitute bus services on the affected route. However, at around 3pm, CFL announced that train services on the affected lines were expected to return to normal after 4pm.

According to the online notice, the disruption affects the Luxembourg City–Ettelbruck–Troisvierges–Gouvy line as well as the Luxembourg City–Ettelbruck–Diekirch connection.
