Compared to 2018, unemployment in March fell by 1.8%, making the current unemployment rate 5.4%. The agency confirmed that 15,670 individuals are registered as job seekers.
However, between February and March 2019, the number of job seekers rose by 162. The fact that the number of job seekers has risen is rather peculiar, as ordinarily the number drops in light of seasonal employment.
A possible explanation could be new registrations related to REVIS (social inclusion income), which is the new legislation replacing the RMG (guaranteed minimum income).
ADEM also announced that 4,293 individuals took part in employment measures in March.
