The slogans of the first private sector union remain "fight against inequality" and "social justice", reiterated new president Nora Back at the first National Committee after last Thursday's management reshuffle.
The union still demands that the tax scale is adapted to inflation in order to relieve the middle classes. Furthermore, the minimum wage should no longer be taxed at all, according to the OGBL, it should instead be increased by 10%.
With regard to property tax, the union calls for progressiveness. In terms of capital taxation, the OGBL demands the taxation of stock options and warrants.
Nora Back confirmed the OGBL's backing of a progressive inheritance tax in cases of direct lineage, since inequalities could always be transmitted. However, their position could only be certain once limits were set.
One of the union's main demands concerns not waiting until the end of the legislature to index family allowances again, as well as discussing the deterioration of family benefits in recent years with Minister for Family Affairs Corinne Cahen (DP).
The union has already presented its demands regarding the key topics of "housing" and "climate plans" on several occasions. The OGBL hopes that the government will present more concrete measures.
