As the holiday season progresses, a look at three municipal Christmas markets reveals varied results and local strategies.

In Echternach, the three-day market featured 46 local associations. The municipality provides the chalets to help these groups raise funds through their activities.

Differdange, home to the Grand Duchy’s oldest Christmas market, opened on 5 December. Its 30 stalls feature a mix of local associations and traders from Luxembourg and abroad. Mayor Guy Altmeisch noted that due to high demand, the market square is scheduled for expansion starting in December 2026. The market remains open until 21 December.

The Dudelange market concluded on 14 December. This year’s edition was spread across three locations over ten days, featuring 60 stalls alongside the town’s separate medieval Christmas market. However, the local council reported only partial satisfaction, citing frequent bad weather that dampened the mood among participating associations.
