A paraglider experienced a dramatic brush with death in Austria on Saturday when her canopy was torn apart by a passing Cessna aircraft near Zell am See.
The forty-four-year-old woman was flying at altitude when the small plane suddenly flew directly overhead, slicing through her paraglider and leaving her plummeting towards the ground.
Despite the immediate loss of altitude, the paraglider kept her composure and managed to deploy her emergency chute, guiding herself to a safe landing.
The entire incident was captured by a camera mounted on her helmet, providing spectacular footage of the accident. In a post accompanying the video, the woman captioned the incident: "Happy-2.Birthday to me".
Remarkably, she walked away from the collision with only minor bruises and no serious injuries. According to Salzburg police, the Cessna was piloted by a twenty-eight-year-old man who later stated that he only spotted the paraglider at the last moment and was unable to avoid a collision.
