It will be a very chilly end to the week, but at least it looks set to be a dry day and the sun will likely shine in intervals during the afternoon.

There is a yellow alert for cold temperatures in place for the north of the country, in effect until midday, with possible lows of -10°C in some places. More generally though we can expect temperatures between -7°C and -3°C in the morning, rising to a high of -1°C in the afternoon, and then dropping to -4°C in the evening.

Wherever today takes you, make sure to wrap up warm, and take care on the roads which may be icy in places.
