A cargo sleigh originating from the North Pole laden with presents made an unexpected diversion to Findel Airport last week due to adverse weather, according to a report from the Luxembourg Motoring Association (ACL).
The ACL stated it received a rather unusual call for assistance at the airport’s Kiss & Fly area last Thursday. Poor weather conditions reportedly forced the fully-loaded sleigh to execute an emergency landing in the car park after it was unable to land on the main runway as planned. During the turbulent descent, the sleigh became separated from its reindeer, leaving it grounded and unable to continue its journey.
The ACL provided a tow, transporting the sleigh to its facility in Bertrange. To ensure the delivery schedule could be met, the association lent the pilot a delivery van to distribute the presents, an operation they later confirmed was successful.
The reindeer, which had gone missing during the incident, were subsequently located in a car park in Bettembourg. They were reportedly unharmed and have since been cared for.
Meanwhile, the sleigh itself is undergoing inspection and repairs at the ACL’s Diagnostic Centre.
Santa Claus has been contacted for comment, but he may be too busy preparing gifts to reply.
