
According to Trier police, a chase took place on the A64 near the Luxembourg border heading in the direction of Trier at around 7.20pm. A grey BMW 3 Series with German plates drove at excessive speed along the B51 into the centre of Trier and failed to stop despite police signals.
The escape attempt involved at least three collisions with other vehicles. Other road users were reportedly put at risk by the reckless driving.
The BMW was eventually brought to a halt in the area of Andreas-Hovel-Strasse, where the driver and passenger were placed under arrest.
The reason for the flight is still under investigation.
