Police in Esch-sur-Alzette had a closer look at a driver who was asleep in his vehicle at 2.40am on Saturday morning.

The vehicle, on Rue d'Audun, blocked both a police-and a disabled parking space. It turned out the driver had been drinking and his license was confiscated on the spot.

Another driver was stopped by police officers at around 4.15am in Leudelange. He had also been drinking and had to hand over his license to the police.

In another incident, the police were called to a bar in Esch-sur-Alzette due to an inebriated individual not wanting to leave. As the police attempted to remove the man from the bar, the latter lashed out at one of the officers, who was lightly injured. In the police car, the man threatened the officers and spat on them. The police pressed charges against him and he was put in a cell to sober up.

According to reports by the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), several accidents occurred on Friday night.

One person was hit and injured by a car in Esch-sur-Alzette, and two cars were involved in a crash in Diekirch, leaving one person injured.

In another incident, two cars crashed into one another on Boulevard d’Avranches in Luxembourg City on Saturday morning. Luckily, no one was injured.

Police carried out a total of 184 breathalyser tests on Friday night between Roodt and Grevenmacher, of which ten came back positive. Two licenses were confiscated on the spot.
