The bridge links the Luxembourg City train station area with Bonnevoie and will become the next focus of the expansion of the tram network. According to Minister of Transport François Bausch, this will be a large-scale construction site. Bausch presented the trajectory for the roadworks on Tuesday morning, demonstrating how the bridge will become multimodal - allowing trams, cars, and bicycles to travel alongside each other.

The roadworks also include the construction of the new N3 road, which will lead to Howald. The old N3, the Route de Thionville, will become less congested once the new road is completed.

The roadworks will last until the beginning of 2021, after which Luxtram will get to work adapting the lane for trams. The tram should be able to extend its route to include the bridge by September 2021. The cost of the project is estimated at €25.2 million.
