At around 7.30pm on Sunday, a patrol in Bascharage spotted a driver who had parked his vehicle on the pavement to relieve himself. During the ensuing check, it quickly became clear that the man had had too much to drink. He refused, however, to take a test at the police station. Once officers established that he had already lost his licence for drink-driving on a previous occasion, the public prosecutor's office was informed. The car was impounded and a report was filed.
Later, at around 9.30pm, police received a report of a confrontation at a shopping centre on Rue des Trois Cantons in Wincrange. According to initial information, several intoxicated individuals were behaving aggressively towards the security staff. On arrival, officers found an intoxicated driver on the upper parking deck. He had already been asked to leave the area because of his behaviour. He had damaged a barrier with his vehicle and had been driving at high speed.
Officers located the man in his vehicle and took him to the station. The breathalyser test came back positive, a provisional driving ban was issued, a report was drawn up, and the driver will be appearing in court in due course.
