Being at the front of the queue for a concert, especially for a performance by a global star like Robbie Williams, means getting up early in the most literal sense. Several hardcore fans of the former Take That member were already waiting outside the entrance at Luxexpo in the small hours of the morning, hoping to grab the best spots for Monday evening's show. Some of those who spoke to RTL had been at the venue well before 5.30am on Monday.
Given that Robbie Williams is not due on stage before 9pm at the earliest, it promised to be a long, hot day for the truest of fans.
Among them was a group of women who had travelled over from the United Kingdom. One of the British superfans pointed out: "This will be the 52nd time I will see him live." Her friend, by comparison, has "only" managed to attend 34 of his live concerts so far, leaving her, as she put it, plenty of room for improvement. To make her devotion to Robbie visible to the outside world, she even had his autograph tattooed on her forearm twelve years ago, immortalising him for good.
One positive of the concert in Luxembourg, according to a lady who had travelled from Germany, is that it is not on the scale of a huge arena show, which makes it relatively easy to get a spot near the front.
As for the set list Williams is expected to serve up on Monday evening, many fans may not really mind whatever comes, since much of the audience will be able to sing along to his songs by heart in any case. The classics remain crowd favourites, but his newer material has also gone down well, as became apparent in the fans' comments.
Anticipation for Robbie Williams is running high, much as it did three years ago when he last performed in front of Luxexpo. Whether the long wait to reach the front row will have paid off for the fans this time around remains to be seen.
