Annual traditionPoliticians and journalists meet for informal gathering at Octave market

RTL Today
It's a tradition: once a year, the government and the press come together for an informal exchange during the Octave.

At this traditional meeting, it is not just about serious political issues; according to Prime Minister Luc Frieden, meeting members of the press in the more informal setting of the Octave market is a chance for politicians to connect with journalists with whom they usually only cross paths in professional settings.

Speaking to RTL, the prime minister stressed that the pension reform – recently announced and intensely criticised – had been thoroughly discussed within the government, with all decisions taken collectively. He described the atmosphere within the coalition as excellent.
