Residents across Luxembourg have reported being contacted by scammers claiming their bank accounts were compromised or that they had fallen victim to cyber fraud.

The victims were instructed to provide their Luxtrust login details and carry out transactions via the app. By doing so, they unknowingly authorised fraudulent payments, resulting in significant financial losses.

The police are now seeking witnesses who may have seen or interacted with individuals involved in the scam. The suspects were reportedly active on the evening of 21 February 2025 – first at a shopping centre in Kirchberg, then later in Rombach.

Email scams are also on the rise. A little tip in case of doubt: emails from reputable organisations like banks, the police, or other official bodies always use verified addresses such as info@banque.com or info@police.lu. In this case, the email address used by the scammers did not match the bank’s recognised security standards.

Anyone with relevant information related to the case above is urged to contact the judicial police on (+352) 244 60 1310 or via email at spj.cg@police.etat.lu.
