According to the Grand Ducal Police, officers were called out at 2.40am on Sunday after reports of a break-in in Gasperich.

A man had smashed a shop window to gain access and attempted to steal from the till. However, the suspected perpetrator was apprehended shortly after the incident on Rue d’Alsace. He was taken into custody on the orders of the public prosecutor.

Drink-driving offences

Shortly after 1am, police received a report of a driver close to Koerich suspected of being under the influence of alcohol.

The vehicle was located and stopped near Septfontaines. The driver was indeed found to be over the legal alcohol limit. When informed that he would have to accompany officers to the station, he resisted and attempted to strike one of them. His driving licence was confiscated, and a complaint was filed.

The police also reported an accident on the CR348 between Burden and Bourscheid on Saturday morning. A female driver lost control of her car in a right-hand bend, veered off the road, and collided with a tree.

She was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be freed by emergency services. An alcohol test was positive, and she was issued a provisional driving ban.
