The first occurred at around 2.15pm on Route d’Arlon in Belair. According to initial findings, a driver attempted to avoid a car that was turning and, reacting too late, mounted the pavement. In doing so, she struck a pedestrian, who was seriously injured and taken to hospital. A subsequent check revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Around an hour and a half later, police were alerted to another incident on Avenue Marie-Thérèse in Luxembourg City. A pedestrian was hit by an e-scooter while attempting to cross at a zebra crossing. The scooter approached from the left and struck the pedestrian, causing a knee injury. During checks, officers established that the e-scooter was not limited to the maximum permitted speed of 25km/h. On the orders of the public prosecutor, the scooter involved, as well as another scooter belonging to the rider, were seized.
In addition, police reported a collision between two cars on the CR169 in Schifflange on Wednesday afternoon. Both drivers were injured and taken to hospital for treatment. One of the drivers tested positive for drugs at the scene.
