A new Bee Secure survey indicates that a majority of young people in Luxembourg believe social media negatively affects their well-being. Over half of respondents aged 17 to 30 reported this view, despite roughly a third admitting to spending four or more hours per day on such platforms.

The findings were presented by the National Youth Service on Tuesday morning as part of Safer Internet Day. According to the same report – the “BEE SECURE Radar” – both young people and adults see disinformation and fake news as one of the primary risks linked to digital technology.

Meanwhile, the Bee Secure helpline saw a notable increase in usage last year, receiving over 700 calls in 2025 compared to around 530 in 2024. The majority of cases reported were related to cybercrime.
