Luxembourg and Canada have maintained diplomatic relations for 80 years, and the opening of the new embassy marks a significant milestone in those longstanding ties. The current Ambassador to Canada is Jean-Claude Kugener.
According to a press release, Luxembourg will thus join the twenty-six other European Union member states already represented in Canada by a resident embassy.
Bettel’s visit to Canada will continue until Thursday.
