Authorities were able to confirm the case after discovering a dead brant near Alscheid.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development has since put out a renewed appeal that poultry farmers keep all their animals in enclosed cages. Furthermore, they should immediately alert a veterinary when discovering a suspicious death among their animals.
People who find a dead bird while out in nature are advised not to touch it and alert the Veterinary Inspection.
