In its latest bulletin, police detailed a series of interventions from Monday to Tuesday, including several involving public intoxication.
The first incident occurred shortly before 1pm on Monday in Bonnevoie, where officers responded to reports of a heavily inebriated individual throwing bottles inside a bar. Upon arrival, the person was uncooperative and was subsequently arrested.
A similar situation unfolded at 7.30pm on Place de la Gare. Officers encountered a highly agitated and intoxicated person who was barely able to stand and could not be calmed down. Deeming the individual a danger to themselves and others, police placed the person in custody overnight.
In a separate incident on Tuesday morning, a patrol on Rue Goethe grew suspicious of a person seen leaving a garage without closing it. Officers approached the individual for a check and developed increasing suspicions that items had been stolen from the garage. The suspected stolen goods were seized, and an incident report was filed.
Meanwhile, authorities are investigating a car break-in on Place de la Gare. Police received reports Monday evening that an unknown culprit had broken into a vehicle and stolen a backpack. The search for the perpetrator is ongoing.
Between Monday evening and Tuesday morning, police issued three temporary driving bans for separate incidents involving impaired driving.
The first occurred on Monday evening in Niederkorn, after witnesses reported a motorist driving on Rue de Longwy with a defective tyre. The witnesses also stated the driver repeatedly exited the vehicle and appeared barely able to stand. Officers located and stopped the vehicle. A positive breathalyser test resulted in an immediate driving ban for the driver.
A second ban was issued in Echternach on Rue Michel Horman, where another driver tested positive during a breathalyser check.
Early Tuesday morning in the Gare neighbourhood, police responded to reports of an unresponsive driver whose vehicle was stationary with the engine running on Rue du Fort Neipperg. Paramedics at the scene managed to wake the individual, who was visibly intoxicated. An initial breathalyser test confirmed the suspicion. The individual later refused to provide a second sample at the police station, leading officers to impose a temporary driving ban.
