A woman had alerted the police shortly before 11pm after witnessing a major brawl involving 20 to 30 people on Rue de la Libération in Esch. When police arrived at the scene, the two groups were already involved in a physical altercation.
One of the troublemakers attempted to punch a police officer. He was consequently handcuffed.
Police confirmed that nobody suffered serious injuries in the incident.
In an unrelated incident, four adolescents were mugged by four young men in Monterey Park in Luxembourg City. The suspects threatened the victims and told them to hand over their mobile phones, cash and credit cards. One of the victims was forced to accompany them to an ATM and withdraw cash. The victims managed to run away after one hour.
