Discussions are rife in Ell as residents question the circumstances which led to the young man’s death in the tragic collision.
It seems that the 27-year-old had made the responsible decision to walk home to Colpach-Haut following a party in Ell on 30 April. The man opted for the route along Rue de Colpach-Haut, little more than a farm track where a general driving ban applies to all except the residents who live along the road. However, it is thought that not everyone adheres to the ban, even during the daytime.
This appears to have been the case on that fateful night, leading up to the fatal collision.

The victim, a young family man who was well-known and popular in the area, had already succumbed to his injuries when the emergency services arrived at the scene. The police promptly launched an appeal for witnesses, while the public prosecutor’s office took over the investigation. A spokesperson told RTL they could not provide further details at this moment in time, as the autopsy results and a toxicological analysis were still pending. Too many details surrounding the collision remain unclear.
What seems certain is that the young man lost his life despite his responsible decision to leave his car following a party, while another person was driving their car down a road where they most likely should not have been in the first place.
Friends and family of the victim have laid flowers, candles, personal items and messages at the site of the accident to honour the deceased.
