In its statement, the ULC states that Luxembourg’s fuel prices have experienced the greatest increase across all of Europe (+31%).
The price index for consumers has meanwhile risen more than it ever has done over the past ten years (+3.62%).
As part of the government’s climate plan, a CO2 tax is to be implemented on 1 January 2022. But the ULC believes this tax is not the correct way forward due to the “insufferable” situation.

Many Luxembourgers still rely on their cars and the recent price fluctuations already make it difficult enough to cope, they argue.
