And that's not all: a new fire engine was also on the list. Minister for Home Affairs Taina Bofferding attended the handover.

Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps ambulances are the corps' most deployed vehicles. There is a difference, however, between those that work in the capital, which cover more incidents but fewer kilometres, and those working throughout the rest of the country, which cover fewer incidents but more kilometres. In the Grand Duchy, ambulances travel an average of 230,000 kilometres every two years.

Eleven new ambulances were brought into service on Friday. They are more modern and more efficient, with updated communication systems, LED lights to reduce energy consumption, and will have increased visibility.

Ten fire brigades, as well as the National Institute for Rescue Training, will be benefiting from the new vehicles, and 23 more are to follow in the near future.

And this isn't all: the Colmar-Berg fire brigade will also be equipped with a new fire engine, which will be used for wildfires. Costing €340,000, the truck can store 10,000 litres of water.

Placing a lot of value on education, CGDIS also plans to invest in staff training.
