The Luxembourg Olympic and Sports Committee (COSL) hosted its annual Games Festival on Ascension Day 2025. With 50 different disciplines on display, the event provided families a unique opportunity to explore both traditional and niche athletic pursuits.
Traditional sports took centre stage, offering child-friendly adaptations in equipment, rules, and training methods – many of which are available year-round through local clubs.
But the festival also spotlighted lesser-known activities, such as hobby horsing, a competitive sport primarily popular in Scandinavia. As the Equestrian Federation could not bring live horses to the event, enthusiasts demonstrated the discipline’s creative appeal.
Meanwhile, dodgeball continues to gain traction in Luxembourg, now backed by a dedicated club, federation, and national team.
The festival’s enduring popularity was evident in its 42nd edition, reinforcing its role as a cornerstone of Luxembourg’s sporting community.
