A series of alcohol-fuelled altercations kept the Luxembourg police busy in recent days, resulting in multiple arrests.
On the evening of 31 May, a couple in Beaufort was assaulted by an intoxicated neighbour who subsequently stole a bank card. The assailant, wielding an iron rod, attacked the couple, leaving both injured. Police arrived at the scene and later located the suspect, who was arrested on orders from the public prosecutor’s office. The individual has since been presented to an examining magistrate, while the couple received medical treatment at a hospital.
In a separate incident on Monday evening, an intoxicated individual was caught shoplifting in Ingeldorf. The person became uncooperative with officers and posed a danger to others, prompting police to detain them in custody after a medical evaluation. A fine was issued in connection with the offence.
Later that same evening, another intoxicated individual became aggressive on Place du Théâtre in Ville-Haute/Luxembourg City after refusing to pay a bar tab. Police intervened, but the person proved uncooperative, leading to their detention following a medical check-up.
