The suspended teacher had appealed one of his sentences, namely the lifelong ban from working in the public service. The first trial had issued this ban, but on Tuesday afternoon, the appeals court ruled in his favour.
As a result, the man will now be subject to a five-year ban from public service. His remaining sentences are unchanged: he was sentenced to three years probation, a €7,500 fine, and a ten-year ban from contacting minors.
The man had been found guilty of possessing child pornography, namely at least 5,250 photographs and 479 videos of a child pornographic nature.
