Cannabis remains the most popular drug in the Grand Duchy, followed by cocaine and ecstasy or MDMA, according to the new national drug report.
Almost two years ago, it became legal to grow cannabis at home for personal use in Luxembourg, with four plants allowed per adult, per household. Around 11% of cannabis consumers surveyed said they had made full use of the growing allowance.
The study said 32% of young people aged 15–34 have already tried cannabis at least once in their lives.
The European report noted that the supply of psychoactive substances is gradually increasing, with 47 new substances detected over the last year alone. The cannabis market has also changed over the years, allowing for a higher THC content and more semi-synthetic cannabis.
