Police in Luxembourg were alerted to several burglaries between Tuesday and Wednesday, alongside two separate drink-driving cases.
In Luxembourg City on Tuesday afternoon, unknown perpetrators broke into a garage at a residential building in Kirchberg and stole a car. Later the same day, a separate burglary was reported on Rue Astrid in the Belair neighbourhood. In that incident, intruders entered a flat via a balcony window, ransacked the rooms, and stole several items, including a watch.
A third break-in occurred at a single-family house on Rue Emile Elsen in Gonderange, also on Tuesday afternoon, where the perpetrators forced open a patio door to gain entry. Police have launched investigations into all three burglaries.
Separately, police apprehended two individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol.
On Tuesday night, a patrol near the capital’s central railway station observed an apparently intoxicated person entering a car on Rue Joseph Junck. Officers stopped the vehicle and, following a positive breathalyser test, confiscated the driver’s licence. The individual was taken to a police station, where they behaved in a provocative and insulting manner, resulting in their placement in a cell to sober up.
Early Wednesday morning in Dudelange, officers noticed a car with a flat tyre on the pavement of Rue de la Libération. Upon approaching the driver, they detected a strong smell of alcohol. A positive breathalyser test led to a temporary driving ban.
