An armed attacker intimidated his elderly victim and forced him to withdraw a large sum of cash from a nearby cashpoint, according to Friday's police report.

During the incident, which took place on Thursday morning between 10.30 and 10.45am, the suspect began a conversation with an elderly man in the Bettembourg Scheleck 3 industrial zone. The perpetrator then revealed a weapon to his victim and made the man walk with him to a nearby supermarket, where he forced the victim to withdraw cash. He then fled by car with the stolen sum.

The suspect is described as being around 1.65 metres tall, corpulent and aged 60-65 with dark hair and prominent eyebrows. He spoke French and wore a dark-coloured hat, blue jeans and a black leather jacket.

Police are seeking any witnesses to the incident and have urged people to come forward with clues to the suspect’s identity, or information on the vehicle used. Witnesses should contact Dudelange police on (+352) 244 69 1000 or via email (police.dudelange@police.etat.lu).
