The two-vehicle collision occurred in the direction of the Gasperich interchange and caused several kilometres of traffic jams. The tailbacks went back to Findel.
At 3.25pm, the situation appeared as if it would take 30 minutes for a ten kilometre journey.
The ACL has reported that the route has cleared, but traffic cams show tailbacks just before 4pm.
