A series of police operations on Tuesday, from the Gare neighbourhood to a Garnich traffic stop, led to multiple citations for offences ranging from distracted driving to breaches of drug and immigration law.
Luxembourg police carried out a series of controls across the country on Tuesday, resulting in numerous fines for traffic and regulatory violations.
The operations began late Tuesday morning with a significant police presence in the Gare neighbourhood of Luxembourg City. Involving twelve officers and two police dogs, the check resulted in one warning for a drug law violation and two recorded violations of immigration law. Authorities stated the primary focus was on maintaining a visible security presence around the central station.
A separate check was conducted on the railway line between Mersch and Pfaffenthal on Tuesday afternoon. During this operation, officers issued five warnings and one fine for drug law violations, alongside one violation of immigration law.
Traffic enforcement in Garnich
In a separate traffic control operation in Garnich between 3pm and 4.30pm, police recorded a total of 23 violations.
The majority of infractions – 18 in total – were for using a mobile phone while driving, resulting in a €145 fine and the loss of two points for each offender. Two motorists were fined for exceeding the 50 km/h speed limit by more than 15 km/h, and one was fined for a lesser speeding violation. Additionally, two drivers were fined €145 and lost two points for being unable to present valid vehicle documents.
