EuroSkills, the European championships of vocational professions, brought historic success for Luxembourg, which earned one silver and four Medallions of Excellence, with the government vowing to build further momentum ahead of co-hosting the 2027 edition in Düsseldorf.

Nineteen young professionals from 16 different trades represented the Grand Duchy at the competition, supported by a team of more than 40 people including experts, jury members, and coaches.

The results: a silver medal in Landscape Gardening for the duo Nico Fuchs and Florian Theisen, as well as four Medals of Excellence in the categories of automobile technology, web development, hotel reception, and plumbing and heating.

Education Minister Claude Meisch congratulated the national team via social media, highlighting their achievement.

This success is the outcome of a long-term strategy involving national championships, intensive training, and participation in international competitions. Looking ahead to EuroSkills 2027 in Düsseldorf, where Luxembourg will act as co-organiser, the aim is to build on this momentum.

Initiatives such as the "Skill Boosters" programme from the Service for the Coordination of Educational and Technological Research and Innovation (SCRIPT) are also designed to spread the "skills virus" in schools, giving greater visibility to career opportunities across the professional world.
