A necklace theft unfolded on Thursday at a Luxembourg City crossroads after a man tricked his victim by first asking for a cigarette.

Police reported on Thursday and incident at the intersection of Boulevard de la Fraternité and Rue Félix de Blochausen when a man asked his victim for a cigarette before stealing their necklace.

After receiving the cigarette, the man slapped the victim on the chest and walked away. The victim later realised the necklace was missing.

Police have launched an investigation.
