The authorities reported a series of traffic incidents overnight from Monday to Tuesday, resulting in three drivers facing fines and other penalties for offences including DUI, speeding, and operating a vehicle without a licence.
Luxembourg police apprehended three drivers for separate offences during traffic controls conducted on Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
The first incident occurred during a speed check on Rue de Longwy in Schouweiler late Monday evening. Police recorded a driver travelling at 85 km/h. When officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver u-turned and fled. A subsequent manhunt located the driver and car shortly afterwards. A drug test administered at the scene returned a positive result, and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of hashish.
In a separate operation in Stadtbredimus on Monday night, officers discovered drug paraphernalia during a routine checkpoint inspection of a vehicle. A subsequent search also uncovered drugs, all of which were seized by authorities. The driver also tested positive for drug use.
A third incident took place early Tuesday morning in Leudelange, where police pulled over a driver for speeding on Rue Jean Fischbach. The check revealed the driver was intoxicated and was also driving without a valid licence. Officers issued a temporary driving ban, and the public prosecutor's office ordered the vehicle to be seized.
In all three cases, the drivers were fined for their respective offences.
