In celebration of Uber's launch in Luxembourg, Uber and its local partner Webtaxi report strong adoption of the app for airport, business, and short city trips, citing driver professionalism and strategic collaboration as key to their success.

Exactly one year ago, Uber launched in the Grand Duchy – an arrival that sparked concern among some local taxi drivers and trade unions such as the Independent Luxembourg Trade Union Confederation (OGBL), who feared it could lead to social dumping.

However, Uber has since become part of everyday transport habits in Luxembourg. Unlike in some other countries where its entry was more forceful and controversial, the company established itself here through a strategic partnership with Webtaxi, a major player in the local passenger transport market and an independent subsidiary of the Emile Weber Group.

In a joint press release, Uber and Webtaxi highlighted how quickly the service had been embraced, noting that both business travellers and tourists have taken to the app, with some even opening it as soon as they land at the airport. "We couldn't be more pleased with how Uber has been embraced in Luxembourg. Our first year in the Grand Duchy has been a success – riders love the convenience of the Uber app, and drivers have gained valuable new earning opportunities", the statement notes.

The two companies further state that, as expected, journeys between the airport and the city centre are among the most frequently booked. The app is also a popular choice for getting between various business districts.

Uber attributed much of this success to the professionalism of Webtaxi drivers. Emile Weber, CEO of the Emile Weber Group and Webtaxi, explained that the partnership has created new opportunities both for drivers and for customers. Whether heading home after dinner in town, making a quick trip to the station, or travelling to the airport, more and more people are reportedly turning to the app, Uber states.

According to Laurent Slits, Uber's Luxembourg director, the platform has also enabled private drivers to earn additional income. With a successful first year behind them, Uber and Webtaxi say they now plan to accelerate their collaboration.
