Defence Minister Yuriko Backes has condemned the violation of Polish and NATO airspace by Russian drones, urging allied unity and firm responses to Moscow's provocations.
Luxembourg Defence Minister Yuriko Backes has condemned the violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones, calling it "absolutely unacceptable" and stressing the need for NATO unity. "It is absolutely condemnable. Polish airspace was violated and, with it, NATO airspace", Backes told RTL in an interview.
She also welcomed Poland's swift response in cooperation with allies such as Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy.
Backes further warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin was showing no intention of pursuing peace and continued to provoke. She underlined that NATO must stand together, avoid being provoked, and respond firmly when necessary.
Above all, she stressed that continued investment in defence remains essential, particularly since the threat is close.
