Uber is coming to Luxembourg... for the OGBL, this is a sign of social dumping.
In a press release, the trade union says that the online platform, through which you can book drivers to a destination of your choice, might hire "fake-freelancers" or wrongly classify workers as independent contractors.
The union is thus calling for more control in companies, new sanctions against employers who do not respect labour laws or collective agreements. The OGBL is calling for a legislative proposal from the Chamber of Employees regarding the platforms and other similar platforms to be directly implemented, to ensure social security, a good salary, and leave for employees of platform operators such as Uber.
Just like the OGBL, the LCGB also warned on Monday afternoon that with Uber's arrival in Luxembourg, driver's rights need to be guaranteed. Working conditions of taxi drivers cannot deteriorate. The LCGB would like to see legal frameworks put into place to avoid precarious working conditions.
